Quality political satire and beautiful animation as always :O

Also, bees. 5/5

Accurate insight on scumbag yuppie society. I had the misfortune of working around the culture, so this hits home and I love it. I'm a big fan of this style you animated in; fits the subject matter well.

Good job!

That was fucking amazing, please keep making more animations :D

Didn't really find it funny. Art was pretty good looking though; nice job there.

Also, why has vuvuzela music become the go to noise for parodies? It's way overdone.

KaggyVA responds:

I just thought it'd be a nice little reference to Dragon Ball Pee.

Oooh, touchy subject. I have mixed feelings about the whole incident myself, but this bullying is messed up. Even if you hate this person, try having a little empathy for them. I see you claim that you're attacking her for being a liar; okay. Even if she is a liar - is it really worth your energy bringing down another human being? How would you feel about someone doing this to you?

Despite all of this, if you really dislike this person the best thing to do is ignore them. Your third criticism of her in this game - "lie for attention" is the most paradoxical attack you made. You're critical of her wanting attention yet in making this game you're doing nothing but giving her more attention. Talk about being self-contradictory.

Even if all of the things she's allegedly done are true it doesn't justify her personal life being thrown onto the internet. I am a bit disappointed in you in the rest of the pitchfork mob out to bring this person down. Nobody deserves such slander. Satire (as always) is fair game, but this is pretty mean-spirited of you.

Vertyx responds:

>try having a little empathy for them
Why should I be empathic for a person who does terrible things?

>is it really worth your energy bringing down another human being?
Yes.

>How would you feel about someone doing this to you?
Honoured. I'm disappointed it hasn't happened already.

>Despite all of this, if you really dislike this person the best thing to do is ignore them
No. No, this is a terrible way to do it. I want people to know that Zoe Quinn is a lying, censoring nepotist and that the industry of video game journalism is corrupt and needs change. If we all ignored her, what good would it do?

>You're critical of her wanting attention yet in making this game you're doing nothing but giving her more attention
Positive attention != negative attention. I'm calling attention to her terrible actions. That does hardly any good for her.

>Even if all of the things she's allegedly done are true it doesn't justify her personal life being thrown onto the internet
This has little to do with her personal life. Most of the actions she performed that I criticize in the game were public affairs. Even her sleeping around with five guys, I argue, was a public affair not because she had a boyfriend at the time or anything similar but because she slept with a journalist who wrote on her. In other words, journalists are in bed with the developers they are supposed to provide “unbiased” coverage on. That IS a public affair.

>Satire (as always) is fair game, but this is pretty mean-spirited of you.
So who dictates the rules on when satire is fair and when it is not? Yes, it's mean-spirited. Why would I be gentle? What actions did she take to convince anyone that we're being too mean to her? She lied about getting harassed by depressed virgins, which in turn got them harassed. She lied about getting hacked by 4chan multiple times just to make them look bad. She sabotaged a fund for supporting female developers in the video game industry out of spite. Isn't that mean?

I love the visuals in this; you really killed it in that department! I remember seeing your posts about photoshop animation - looks like all that learning payed off.

The story was way simple, but it was totally fitting and gracefully shown imo. Nice job!

dylan responds:

Thanks man! Took a while to get it all down, but now that I'm more fluent in the program it's definitely got its advantages

hahah holy fuck I did not see that coming. I think this is my favorite thing I've seen on this site in a few months.

BTW, your improvements over the last few years are definitely noticeable. Awesome work, yo.

Speedo responds:

<3 thanks dude
but hey now, lets not jump to conclusions, my animation will never be as good as it was in jewish vampire on ice, cmon maaan

I think the thing that bothered me most about this was the character acting. You had some pretty intense and dynamic facial animations that were too over the top to be appropriate for the voice acting. For instance, the whole "Cup-holders, why didn't you say so?" bit feels really out of place. The head transformations are too fast/too exaggerated for the way the line is delivered for the animation to feel natural.

In terms of consistency, the characters go off model and are rarely ever consistent at any point in the short. While it might seem fitting for something that has exaggerated characters, I find it to be distracting for the most part. Though the crazy faces that the characters make are funny, I think the appeal of such a technique is lost when its done so often. The more the characters are on model, the more appeal such funny faces have in contrast; contrast helps sell the appeal.

Anyway, I didn't really think this was funny. More random than anything (ie, the dinosaur bit). That criticism aside: I still think you did a great job and your art is fun to look at. Nice work

Not bad for practice, though, there are a few things here that bothered me: namely the backgrounds, consistency and music.

The choices for backgrounds in this are awfully inconsistent throughout; some look like they were done by you in flash, and others look like photos you found off the internet. I'd say the set of stairs the girl bikes down are by far the most out of place; those stairs are huge and the rendering of your character was tiny in comparison. I'd suggest more consistency on those BGs in the future.

In terms of the drawings and animation, I felt it was pretty good overall. Seems like the main character wasn't always on model the whole time though. especially around :17 compared to say :24.

As for the music, well, Kabalevsky's 12 Comedian's Gallop feels far too energetic and exciting of a song for the content here. Nothing in this short was that exciting to need such music. Also, along with the music, the ending here kind of seemed like a rip from the short animation: Fumiko's Confession (which also used the exact same music as this).

Anyway, im not writing this to be a jerk; just giving some constructive criticism, especially given that this is supposed to be practice.

Kel-chan responds:

yup i mentioned that short in the credits under the inspiration

Pure magic. This will be the third time I watched this glorious animation.

ALSO a UArts man? Nice.
